Joan began working for SLR Center in 2010. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology from Penn State and her Master’s degree from the University of Houston in Communication Disorders. Most of Joan’s 30-year career has been in public schools. During that time, she wrote two children’s novels about a boy with Asperger Syndrome, was part of an Autism Team, and honed her skills in the area of high functioning autism as she worked on the team. She has worked Carol Gray and is highly skilled in writing social stories. Her expertise in the area of social communication disorders is highly respected.

Joan is married with two adult children. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and above all, family gatherings.
